PART-TIME ADULT BASIC EDUCATION/ GED PREP TEACHER
BARTLESVILLE EVENING CLASS

PAY RATE:  $40 an hour
WORKING HOURS: One or two evenings a week (3- 6 hours of instruction)
REPORTS TO: Adult Basic Education Director
EVALUATED BY: Adult  Basic Education Director

JOB DESCRIPTION

Adult Education Teachers must hold valid, up-to-date Oklahoma Teacher’s certificates.  Adult Education Teachers must demonstrate knowledge of:

• Literacy and how it relates to the adults role as worker, parent, and citizen
• The differences between the child and the adult as learner
• How to use Online Curriculum Materials
• How to use Instructional Technology
• Successful teaching strategies for adults
• Successful teaching strategies and appropriate accommodations for adults with Learning Disabilities and Special Learning Needs
• How to assess the basic skills of adults using the Tests of Adult Basic Education (TABE) 
• How to develop an instructional plan for adults based on their educational needs and goals
• How to select and use real-life contextual materials in the Adult Education and Literacy classroom
• Strategies for teaching a multi-level class of adults
• Maintain client confidentiality
• Maintain current up to date files on each student
