Job Description

Provo City is looking for a full-time Apprentice Line Clearance Arborist to provide skilled power line tree clearance work in support of Provo City’s utility and street tree maintenance programs. This position includes working around power lines to clear trees and other debris as well as other general maintenance duties. Qualified applicants interested in performing this work for Provo City are encouraged to apply. Duties include climbing trees using safety devices and harnesses, assisting with trimming trees and shrubs from high voltage power lines under close supervision, removing tree limbs and other items that obstruct wires, assisting in rigging maneuvers with ropes, blocks, slings, and other tools and equipment, cabling, bracing, tying, bolting, staking, and guying trees and branches to provide support, safely operating or assisting in operating various power tools, equipment, and vehicles, loading job order equipment onto trucks, emptying various containers into trucks and receptacles, setting out flags and cones for work site safety, assisting other crew and staff members as needed, and performing other related duties as required. Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent (GED), a valid Commercial Driver License, one year of experience as a tree trimmer, Flagger Training Certification, and registration as a Tree Trimmer Apprentice (Line Clear) with the Department of Labor’s Apprenticeship USA program. The selection process involves application review starting June 22, 2025, drug screening, and criminal background check.
