Job Summary:

Produces machined parts by operating a CNC mill according to the dimensions required on the technical drawings. Maintains quality and safety standards; keeps records; maintains equipment and supplies.

Essential Functions:

• Cuts steel using a CNC mill executing pre-programmed sequences of machine control command as defined in the technical drawings.
• Loads feed mechanism by lifting stock into position.
• Verifies settings by measuring positions, first-run part, and sample workpieces.
• Maintains equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs.
• Maintains specifications by observing cutting; taking measurements; detecting malfunctions; troubleshooting processes; adjusting and reprogramming controls; sharpening and replacing worn tools; adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes.
• Documents actions by completing production and quality logs
• Wears required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and ensures safe operation of all equipment.
• Works on non-CNC cutting projects and performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge and Abilities:

• Able to interpret instructions both written and oral.
• Able to work in a team with co-workers to resolve work-related issues.
• Good measurement skills with the ability to measure to 1/32 of an inch.
• Basic math skills, count, add, subtract and multiply simple numbers.
• Experience with hand tools and power tools required.
• Knowledge of CNC machine operations required
• Able to read and understand cut lists and shop instructions.
• Able to maintain a 90% production efficiency rating.
• Able to maintain an error rate less than 2%.
• Able to work independently, little to no supervision.

Education and Experience:

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Minimum 1 year experience with CNC milling in a manufacturing environment required

Physical Demands:

• Medium work. Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
• Lifting. Raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position-to-position. This factor is important because it occurs to a considerable degree and requires substantial use of upper extremities and back muscles.
• Stooping. Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist. This factor is important if it occurs to a considerable degree and requires full motion of the lower extremities and back muscles.
• Kneeling. Bending legs at knee to come to a rest on knee or knees.
• Crouching. Bending the body downward and forward by bending leg and spine.
• Standing. Particularly for sustained periods of time.
• Pushing. Using upper extremities to press against something with steady force to thrust forward, downward or outward.
• Pulling. Using upper extremities to exert force to draw, haul or tug objects in a sustained motion.
• Visual acuity requirements. The worker is required to have visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned.
