Company Summary: Crossroads is an Arizona Department of Health Services licensed substance abuse treatment provider with proven expertise in serving men, women, and Veterans with Substance Use Disorder through the provision of high quality, successful, and affordable residential and outpatient recovery programs.

Due to federal contracts the following items are prohibited: Medical/Recreational marijuana, current parole, or probation.

Job Summary: The Counselor engages in professional counseling, offering clinical therapeutic services to adults who struggle with substance abuse and co-occurring issues. This role primarily involves work in outpatient settings. The Counselor assists in overseeing program management and ensures continuity of care. Responsibilities include conducting screenings, assessments, developing treatment plans, managing caseloads, and providing both group and individual counseling. The role also involves crisis management and coordinating patient care, while operating independently with minimal supervision.

Essential Functions:

  • Maintain the highest standard of Substance Use Disorder (SUD) treatment services, including assessment, treatment planning, and psychotherapy, and continuously refine programming for successful outcomes.
  • Supervise, schedule, evaluate, and provide ongoing training to clinical staff to enhance job performance.
  • Manage and oversee strict adherence to Crossroads policies and procedures.
  • Understand and ensure compliance with behavioral health licensure, local, state, and federal rules and regulations.
  • Receive and complete daily tasks for BHP reviews within the time allowance as per AZBH regulations.
  • Provide individual and group counseling, including crisis management as required.
  • Facilitate coordination of care, including case review, therapeutic interventions, client progress in treatment, and coordination of services.
  • Participate in clinical staff meetings, trainings, and other required activities.
  • Perform and oversee assessments and evaluations.
  • Review audit reports daily, responding and correcting or training as needed.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • Current CPR/First Aid/Narcan training.
  • Current and annual negative TB Test.
  • Current and valid Fingerprint Clearance Card.
  • Clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check performed annually and upon hire, preferred.
  • Successfully pass a background check and an Arizona Department of Health Services Adult Protective Services check.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Proficiency in clinical written communications, complete understanding of documentation requiring BHP signature, and ability to complete said documentation signatures in a timely fashion.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office, NextGen and Kipu systems.
  • Well-developed communication skills and ability to interact effectively with diverse audiences.
  • Creativity, high ethical standards, sound judgment, problem-solving skills, effective management skills and strong organizational skills.

Education & Experience:

  • Licensure issued by the Arizona Board of Behavioral health Examiners: Licensed at the independent level (LPC, preferred) or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW).
  • Masters degree in counseling, social work, psychology, or a closely related behavioral health field, plus two years of professional counseling experience in substance abuse; Or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in direct service provision, with a working knowledge of addiction, recovery, and psychotherapy.

Work Environment:

  • Fast paced behavioral health outpatient setting.
  • Primarily indoors, however, some outdoor
    work may be requested.

Physical Demands:

  • While performing job duties, the employee is regularly required to sit and speak or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, use hands to handle or feel, reach hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and seldom lift and/or move >100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Shift Requirements:

  • Days, nights, weekends, and holidays.

Travel:

  • Valid AZ Drivers License.
  • May include travel between sites and other locations.
  • Local and statewide travel when requested or required.
