Job Title: Classroom Teacher Wage/Hour Status: Exempt

Primary Purpose:

Provide students with appropriate in-person and virtual instruction to support their intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Enable students to develop competencies and skills for successful societal functioning.

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:

• Bachelors degree from an accredited university
• Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements or related training and work experience for certification waivers under the District of Innovation Plan (DOI)

Special Knowledge/Skills:

• Knowledge of assigned subjects
• Understanding of curriculum and best practices for online learning
• Proficiency in Internet and web-related technology
• Ability to instruct students and manage behavior
• Competence in using various technology applications and platforms
• Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
• Support students with technology setup and troubleshooting

Experience:

• Student teaching, approved internship, or related work experience

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

1. Develop and implement lesson plans aligned with district curriculum, demonstrating preparation
2. Prepare lessons accommodating diverse learning styles
3. Deliver subject matter following TEA, board policies, and regulations
4. Utilize appropriate instructional strategies, activities, and technology, considering students' learning needs
5. Assess student learning styles and adapt instruction accordingly
6. Collaborate with special education staff to modify curricula per IEPs
7. Coordinate with staff on instructional goals and methods
8. Supervise and plan for teacher aide(s) and volunteers
9. Assist students in improving study habits
10. Provide timely feedback and monitor progress using various methods
11. Conduct ongoing assessments of student achievement
12. Participate in extracurricular activities and sponsor approved outside activities
13. Model positive behavior and support district mission
14. Create a conducive learning environment for in-person and virtual classrooms
15. Manage student behavior per policies and conduct standards
16. Ensure safety of students, equipment, and facilities
17. Assist in selecting instructional materials
18. Maintain communication with district personnel, students, and parents via phone, email, or video
19. Communicate effectively and professionally with all stakeholders
20. Participate in staff development and comply with regulations and policies
21. Maintain required reports and records

25. Attend faculty meetings and serve on committees as required

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Supervise teacher aide(s) and mentor student teachers

Working Conditions:

Tools/Equipment Used: Personal computer, phones, instructional equipment, peripherals

Posture: Prolonged sitting/standing; frequent bending, kneeling, squatting, pushing, pulling, twisting

Motion: Frequent walking; repetitive computer use

Lifting: Light lifting (<15 pounds); moving textbooks and equipment

Environment: Indoor work at school or home; possible outdoor work; exposure to noise and screens

Mental Demands: Maintain emotional control under stress; work extended or irregular hours
