Junior Sous Chef (Downtown Tasting Room) JUSTIN Vineyards & Winery | Paso Robles, CA | Hospitality/Food Service | Mid-Senior Level | Full-time | Job ID: REF4930W JUSTIN is an award-winning winery and fine dining establishment in Paso Robles. Our Restaurant has earned a MICHELIN Star and MICHELIN Green Star, making it the only winery restaurant in the county to retain both awards for three consecutive years. We are recognized for our sustainability, unique dining experience, and excellence in hospitality. We are seeking an experienced Junior Sous Chef to join our Downtown Tasting Room in Paso Robles. Reporting to the Executive Chef & Culinary Director, the Junior Sous Chef will oversee culinary operations, mentor staff, and ensure high-quality food preparation in a fast-paced environment. The role requires organization, clear communication, and leadership skills. This position is based at 811 12th Street, Paso Robles, CA 93446. Working hours are 11:00 AM – 7:00 PM, with extended hours on Fridays and Saturdays until 8:00 PM. Job Responsibilities Oversee food preparation, cooking, and presentation at the Downtown Tasting Room. Mentor staff, lead training, and manage workflow to ensure quality and efficiency. Assist with kitchen prep, station setup, and maintain hygiene standards. Prepare and present dishes, enforce health standards, and troubleshoot issues. Collaborate with the management team to align front and back of house operations. Control costs, manage inventory, and place ingredient orders. Organize storage areas and maintain cleanliness. Work with the culinary team to develop seasonal menus, events, and grab-and-go offerings. Support event preparation and execution, including lunch and dinner services. Qualifications At least 2 years of fine dining culinary experience. Experience in staff training and mentorship. Culinary degree required. Serv-Safe certification. Passion for food and wine. Skills in menu design, cost, and inventory control. Attention to detail and excellent time management. Ability to lead, coordinate, and communicate effectively. Comfortable interacting with guests and vendors. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with a calm demeanor. Pay Range: $28.00 - $30.00 per hour, depending on experience and skills.
