POSITION DESCRIPTION: Organist/Collaborative Pianist (Worship & Music)

Part-Time | Approx. 22 hrs/week | Exempt
Accountability:
Reports to the Director of Worship & Music in collaboration with the Associate Director of Music.
The person in this position will be expected to have previously embraced the essential tenets of Christian faith, including a personal belief in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, and be in agreement with the essential tenets of ECO (Covenant Order of Evangelical Presbyterians) available for download here:
Overview
Trinity United Presbyterian Church is seeking a Christ-centered, collaborative, and musically gifted Organist/Pianist to serve as a key member of our worship team. The ideal candidate is humble in spirit, hungry to serve and grow, and smart in how they work with others.
Key Responsibilities
Provide organ and keyboard music for two Sunday morning weekly worship services, plus special services throughout the liturgical year (Christmas Eve, Ash Wednesday, Holy Week, Easter, Thanksgiving, etc.)
Accompany the Chancel Choir for weekly rehearsals, services, and concerts; lead sectionals as needed
Accompany children and youth ensembles and soloists on Sunday mornings as needed
Collaborate with the Director of Worship & Music and other worship leaders to create cohesive worship experiences, including preludes, postludes, offertories, etc.
Play keyboard as part of the praise band and support contemporary worship leadership
Provide musical leadership during services
Maintain organ and keyboard instruments, and coordinate with technicians for upkeep
Mentor student organists and keyboardists
Assist with securing qualified substitutes for Sunday services, rehearsals, and weddings and memorial services
Qualifications
Proficiency in organ and piano performance, including hymn playing, choral accompaniment, improvisation, and contemporary praise music
Preferred bachelor's degree in music or equivalent training and a minimum of 7+ years of organ/keyboard experience
Proficiency in a variety of keyboard instruments
Strong skills in sight-reading, transposition, continuo realization, and interpreting chord charts and lead sheets
Deep understanding of worship flow, sacred music traditions, and broad range of musical styles
Clear communication skills and a heart for collaborative ministry
Warm and hospitable demeanor with a heart for ministry and service
Flexibility and adaptability to support a wide range of musical settings, worship styles, and ministry needs
