Job Summary

The Process Operator is responsible for operating the dryer and other plant equipment to produce finished product.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

• Oversees drying/processing of raw material to finished product; monitors drying rate of material to maintain maximum rate of processing per hour.
• Maintains consistent flow of material from initial receipt to shipment.
• Monitors control panel and various gauges to ensure process maximum efficiencies.
• Operates bio-mass burner and pollution control systems within parameters established by Company, state, and local regulations.
• May perform some preventative maintenance duties (i.e. lubricating machinery and checking lubricant levels as required)
• Informs Shift Lead Person and Plant Manager of any problems.
• May be responsible for plant start-up or shut-down.
• Maintains safety as top priority in accordance with all company safety rules and regulations.
• Aware of, has received training and is responsible for maintaining Darling's Food Safety program.
• All other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED.
• Minimum 6 months experience in Bakery plant or related environment dealing with moisture levels, biomass burners, forced air dryers, grinders, conveyors, air and wastewater controls.

Preferred Qualifications

• Work well with others in a team environment.
• Safety conscience; detail oriented; able to multi-task.
• Good mechanical skills; knowledge of plant processes and equipment.

Physical Demands

• Frequently required to walk, stand, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crawl, and crouch.
• Occasionally push, pull, move or lift up to 50 lbs.
• Regularly required reach with hands and arms.

Work Environment
