Merchology seeks a Senior Web Developer for our Development team. Reporting to the VP Technology, the Senior Web Developer is a critical role that will exhibit proficiency in our systems, lead in practical project work, and be a key resource in executing development tasks.

A successful Senior Web Developer will:

  • Own the end-to-end website codebase across all ecommerce platforms, including front-end, back-end, and integrations.
  • Oversee the website change management process, ensuring code quality, risk assessment, rollback procedures, and deployment integrity.
  • Drive the technical direction of web projects and make architectural decisions aligned with business objectives.
  • Manage third-party development vendors and contractors, including scoping work, reviewing deliverables, and ensuring SLA adherence.
  • Mentor and guide other developers, fostering skill growth and promoting development best practices.
  • Interface with executive leadership, translating complex technical concepts into clear, business-relevant updates and presentations.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with internal departments such as marketing, product, logistics, and technology to align web efforts with company priorities.
  • Proactively identify and propose improvements to existing systems and workflows, balancing technical debt with business value.
  • Autonomously balance workload across competing priorities and adapt to shifting business needs.
Requirements:

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5+ years working as a professional developer
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required
  • Experience in programming languages and frameworks including React, Node.js, MongoDB, HTML/CSS, and JavaScript
  • Demonstrable experience in development including expertise in modern web languages
  • Must be able to collaborate with key cross functional teams
  • Experience with both front-end and back-end development
  • Ecommerce and CMS experience
  • Must be able to work independently without a lot of direction

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience developing in Shopify or Liquid templating engine
  • Experience in fast-growth company culture

  • The estimated range for On-Target Earnings in this role is $100,000 - $130,000. On-Target Earnings consist of a combination of annual base pay and a variable bonus based on company performance
