HonorVet Technologies is seeking a travel nurse RN PICU - Pediatric Intensive Care for a travel nursing job in Orange, California.
Job Description & Requirements

Unit Details - Unit Type: PICU
- Beds: 42
- Documentation: Cerner
- Float Requirement: Yes (primarily NICU & CVICU; may go to other areas if needed)
- Call Requirement: Yes
- Weekend Requirement: Every other / per staffing needs
- Scheduling: 12-hour shifts
- Provider Coverage: Intensivists, hospitalists, NPs, anesthesiology, CRNA, residents & fellows
- Support Services: RT, Radiology, Pharmacy, RRT, PT, Social Services, Transport, IV teams, Lift teams
Patient Population & Diagnoses - Ages birth to 18 years
- High-acuity critical care
- Respiratory failure, metabolic disorders, endocrinology, oncology, neurosurgery, cardiology, Level 1 trauma
- Complex multi-system instability
Special Procedures - Conscious sedation
- CRRT
- ECMO
- Management of invasive lines
- Advanced pediatric hemodynamic monitoring
Certifications Required - BLS
- PALS
- (ACLS, APHON, CPHON, NRP, NIHSS preferred depending on hospital but not required unless noted)
Skills/Experience Requirements - Hard Stop: Minimum 2 years recent experience in a high-acuity, high-census PICU
- Must have strong experience with:
- Pediatric ventilators & airway management
- High-flow, BiPAP/CPAP
- Drips, sedation, emergency meds
- Hemodynamic monitoring
- Arterial line management
- Central line care
- EVD/ICP monitoring
- Dysrhythmia interpretation & management
- Blood products
- Pediatric dosage calculations
- Must be comfortable with:
- High acuity
- High census
- Academic-style workflows
Other Notes - Prefers clinicians with academic facility experience
- Prefers travelers who completed 8+ week assignments or extensions at similar high-acuity hospitals
- Orientation: 1 shift on unit + hospital orientation
- 1 RTO request allowed (varies)
