THE OPPORTUNITY

Reference Point is currently seeking a Technical Data Director to support challenging client engagements within a rapidly growing boutique management consulting firm. We are looking for an experienced, driven and entrepreneurial individual to support teams delivering on a variety of projects for financial services clients aligned to our Data and Technology service offerings.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support client engagement delivery and work collaboratively with senior client stakeholders
  • Lead data source investigation efforts
  • Create documentation of databases and schemas
  • Perform analysis of data, patterns, and exceptions
  • Support integration of metadata into enterprise tooling solutions
  • Communicate findings, data insights and signals to internal and client stakeholders

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with database and schema design
  • Strong understanding of Data Warehousing concepts and EDW Data Modeliing
  • Analytics skills and exposure to a variety of tools and technologies, specifically SQL and SQL Server experience
  • Strong working experience of ETL design principles in building an enterprise data warehouse
  • Strong understanding of data warehouse architecture, layers, constructs, and data design concepts
  • Deep financial industry experience, either in industry or consulting roles
  • Strong data modeling skills in Excel
  • Exposure to Information Security and other data privacy considerations
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work across technology teams
  • Proven ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in an entrepreneurial, team environment
  • High energy, drive, integrity, and an entrepreneurial spirit
  • Hybrid work environment: NYC office and remote

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Strong understanding of data science basics
  • Experience with lending and the supporting business systems and processes
  • Oracle/Sybase skills
  • Experience with user requirements gathering
  • AI/ML data profiling skills
  • Experience with Wealth Management (Sales) data
  • Experience with data mapping and redacting

EDUCATION

A bachelor’s degree or higher

The ideal candidate will have demonstrable experience in a number of the below technical skills.

  • Data Visualization : PowerBI, Tableau, Alteryx
  • Programming languages : SQL, R, Python, T, Spark, Stata, JSON, Java
  • Developer Productivity : JIRA, Confluence, Azure Devops
  • Data Platforms: Snowflake, Spark, Teradata+, Hadoop, Cloudera, Hotronworks , ElasticSearch, Splunk, MapR, Redshift, Cassandra, Informatica
  • Data Governance/Lineage Platforms: Colibra, Alex Solutions
  • Cloud Platforms: Amazon Web Services (AWS), Azure, Google Cloud
  • Microsoft Suite: Office, Visio, SharePoint, Access

The ideal candidate will have one or more of the below certifications:

  • Data Capability Assessment Methodology (DCAM)
  • Cloud Data Management Capabilities Methodology (CDMC)
  • Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect Expert / Database Administrator
  • AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner / Solutions Architect / SysOps Administrator / Data Analyst
  • Tableau Desktop Certified Associate

This compensation range considers the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to location; skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each potential employee and subsequent job performance. A reasonable estimated salary range for this position is $250,000 to $300,000.
